Hoshiarpur (The Stellar News): The district administration issued orders to immediately seal open borewells as a precautionary measure because few days back a child fell into a bore in Chakk Samana village near Bhukhowal on Hoshiarpur Dasuha road. However, administrative officials perhaps did not deem it necessary to ensure compliance with those orders within their own premises.
An accident could occur at any moment due to a partially uncovered borewell located in the parking area to the left of the Mini Secretariat's main entrance. Although the hole is not large enough for an adult to fall into, it poses a significant danger to small animals or children; this is because people often visit the Mini Secretariat with their children and then go to park their scooters or motorcycles. In such a scenario, if a child were to break free from their grasp or approach and peep into it out of curiosity and fall in, it would be a critical situation and taking action after that would be like a pointless action.
It is not that it wasn't covered, but due to a lack of timely checking, half of it has become empty, as you can clearly see in the aforementioned picture. Only the officials would know whose duty or responsibility it is to conduct these checks, but this oversight poses a significant danger to both animals and human lives. Therefore, administrative officials must take strict measures to rectify this situation immediately; otherwise, waking up to the issue only after a tragedy occurs would be of no avail.
