Gupta has been brought to the Pune airport and will be taken to Bhiwandi for futher legal proceedings said police.
The main accused in the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak case, Bijendra Kumar Gupta, has been arrested from Bihar by the Bhiwandi Police.
The Thane police probing the alleged Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak case achieved a major breakthrough on Saturday by arresting the alleged mastermind, Bijendra Gupta, after a three-week manhunt. Gupta was apprehended in Bihar along with his associate, Indrajit Singh, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 14.
The accused is said to be involved in many paper leak cases in several states across the country. Among those arrested earlier is Gupta’s wife , Sonam Gupta who was traced to Samastipur in Bihar. Investigators said that she had played a major role in the financial transaction and the logistical support for the alleged racket. Police have also seized the electronic devices,documents and the financial record during the investigation.
Investigators further revealed that Gupta had allegedly finalized a deal through the arrested accused Kapil Dahiya to sell the leaked question papers to Pune resident who is the only accused who is yet to be caught.
Police claimed that the Pune based suspect was in the contact with 50 teacher aspirants who were willing to purchase the leaked question paper before the examination. Gupta’s arrest is expected to provide the crucial needs on the exact source of leaked papers.
