Jammu: Girish Chandra Murmu (born 21 November 1959) who is appointed as the first lieutenant governor of Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir is a 1985 batch Indian Administrative Service officer of Gujarat cadre and was principal secretary to Narendra Modi during his tenure as CM of Gujarat. He was Secretary, Department of Expenditure in Ministry of Finance. Murmu is considered a close confidant of Narendra Modi. He is appointed as lieutenant governer of Jammu and Kashmir on 25 Oct 2019 replacing governor Satyapal Malik. Radha Krishna Mathur appointed as Lieutenant Governors of Union Territory of Laddakh.
