Mercedes bus services launched in Assam

Guwahati (The Stellar News): Commuters in Assam will find convenience and comfort as the State government in Dispur has launched a bus services of Bharat Benz (Mercedes) on 6 November 2020. Giving a new dimension to the public transport, State chief minister Sarbananda   Sonowal   flagged  off 20  premium buses at a program held in the city. Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal commented that Mercedes buses are known for their superior performance and he hoped that the buses inducted in State transport corporation need to be looked after to sustain their good services for a longer period. He also added that the corporation has competitively emerged to serve the people with the introduction of the new set of buses.

He observed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi with his inspirational leadership   has   brought   about   remarkable   changes   not only in the developmental narratives of Bharat, but also in creating positive temperament to the citizens. Guided and inspired by
PM Modi Dispur has also ventured in to bringing about positive and qualitative changes in the development contour of Assam. Sonowal congratulated the transport department for its impressive performance during the Covid-19 pandemic tempted lock down.

On the occasion, he also inaugurated the services of wheel-chair for boarding and de-boarding the buses.  Considering the  cancer  patients, who go to Mumbai  for advanced oncological  treatment, Sonowal asked the corporation to start bus services from Assam Bhawan to the hospitals. State transport minister Chandra Mohan Patowary announced that the corporation would shortly start pink bus services for the women as well as for the senior citizens free of cost. The transport department informed that the new buses will connect the major airports to the nearby city/towns and services from Guwahati to Dhubri, Lakhimpur to Tezpur, Hojai to Haflong, Diphu, etc.
