MP, Mayor, MLAs, DC inagurates mega projects worth 41.50 Cr. under Smart City and Amrut

Jalandhar (The Stellar News): In order to ensure top-class civic facilities in the city, Member Parliament Chaudhary Santokh Singh, Mayor Jagdish Raj Raja, MLAs Sushil Rinku, Rajinder Beri, Avtar Henry Junior, and Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today launched development projects worth Rs. 41.50 Crore under Smart City and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) programs.

Participating in virtual launch of the Municipal Projects worth Rs 1087 crore by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh said that with these projects the city area would usher in new era of development.

Divulging more, he said that these projects include 15 MLD sewage treatment plant at a cost of Rs. 20.61 Crore, improvement and up gradation of city Railway Stations at Rs. 6.26 Crore, development of construction and demolition waste management plant at Rs. 8.09 Crore, safety and security measures for Rainik Bazar using utility duct for overhanging electrical wires at Rs. 2.71 crore, digitization of Sri Guru Nanak Dev library at Rs. 2.09 Crore, and rooftop rain water harvesting structures at 54 government buildings at an outlay of Rs. 1.74 Crore.

Chaudhry Santokh Singh said that up-gradation of city Railway station include an escalator, foot over bridge and facade Improvement, which would give city Railway station a mesmerising look. Similarly, a sewage treatment plant worth Rs. 20.61 Crore would give relief to the people of north and west constituency as it has the capacity of 15 MLD sewage waste.

Chaudhry Santokh Singh further added that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh is making concerted efforts for the all-around development of Jalandhar and these key projects will pave the way for the transformation of urban development.

Speaking on the ocassion Mayor Jagdish Raj Raja said that launching of these projects would further accelerate the pace of development of the city. He said that in order to ensure safety and security of people in Rainik Bazar, a project worth Rs. 2.71 crore under smart city has been initiated to cover overhanging electrical wires.

Meanwhile, Babita Verma councillor of ward No. 43 also took part in the virtual inauguration event and thanked Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for ensuring holistic development in the state.

Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori directed the officials of all executing agencies to give top-most priority to ensure timely completion of these projects so that the people were benefitted.

The ceremony was held simultaneously in several locations of the district.

Prominent among present occasion included Municipal Commissioner Karnesh Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Hardeep Singh, Advisor Kulwinder Singh, and others.
