But due to increase in prices of various essential commodities the situations has become more difficult. People are ignoring use of vehicles but are feeling helpless in case of LPG.

Government firstly gave free cylinders to poor classes which is absolutely an appreciative step. But now the refill rates of cylinders are out of the range of common people. If people don’t have capacity to refill the cylinders than what is the use of Gas Connections.

Previously, Government appealed people of country to release subsidies on gas but when people released the subsidies the rates of LPG were increased by government.

Current prices of LPG cylinders- Current Prizes of LPG cylinders are on record high. Non-subsidised LPG cylinders rate is Rs860. And the subsidy on single cylinder is just Rs26. Rs860 is not a small amount only those who have appropriate source of income can afford it.

Prizes of LPG gas in last UPA government-

Previous stand of BJP during UPA government-
Before coming in power BJP organised various protests and agitations against the UPA government. They blame the ruling party for increasing prices of LPG as well as fuels.

During the 2014 elections BJP while campaigning, promised to the people of country that they will provide fuel and LPG on very low prices. Various videos of PM Narendra Modi are surfacing on social media in which he clearly seen opposing the UPA Government on LPG cylinders prices.

Stand of other parties on LPG prices-
Other parties are opposing ruling BJP government on this matter. Congress Senior Leaders condemns government policies and working. Previously, Congress Party President Rahul Gandhi said that, the Government is looting the public.

“Loot from the public, Development of only two,” the Congress leader tweeted. He also shared a News clipping which reported on the hike in LPG cylinder prices.

Aam Aadmi Party also opposed Central Government in the form of Protests. AAP leaders protests in Punjab and slammed both Central and State Government.

Why LPG prices hike-
Due to increase in number of consumers in the country, the import of gas has increased extensively. Due to launch of Ujwala Yojna about 8crore consumers who lives below the poverty line, are taking benefits from this scheme.
Another reason is increase in price of butane and propane gas in international market. This rate depends upon the US Dollar-rupee exchange rate.
