Yesterday, Delhi had registered 32000 cases which are record high since the start of pandemic. This results in scarcity of oxygen, vaccines and medicines in capital. So, after this high court raised questions on centre policy. Court condemns discrimination policy of centre on supplying oxygen and vaccines and leaving Delhi alone in its covid-19 fight. High court also said that, centre will not provide medications to people who need them then, “blood is on their hands”.

After the extensive increase of covid-19 cases Delhi witnessed falling far too shortage of beds and oxygen in capital’s escalating crisis. After this Delhi government alleged centre on various aspects. High court asked centre to cut down supply of oxygen from other industries like petroleum and steel as this will ensure adequate amount of oxygen for treatment of covid-19 patients. Adding to this they said, industries can wait, but covid-19 patients cannot. Human lives are in danger.

Bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli also stated that, economic interests cannot override human lives as “we are heading for disasters”. Judges also added that if instead of having medication, it is being supplied to region A by ignoring region B which requires the more. Then be sure, “blood is in hands of centre”.

And now Delhi government urged centre to help capital as Delhi had left with few hours of oxygen.

What centre said in response to high court verdict-

Responding to high court centre argued that they had already decided to stop supply of oxygen for industrial use from 22nd April. Then high court said, can you ask patient to wait for 22nd April. “Why don’t you ban it today, why waiting for 22nd April?”
Centre also showed some figures and said that only 3% patients needed ICU beds and these patients needs 24 liter oxygen and other non ICU patients requires 10 liter oxygen.

Centre also argued that if Delhi government cannot handle the situation of Delhi then they should handover Delhi Health system to centre. We will manage.

Centre also asked high court that they are taking all measures for controlling this tough situation.
