3 Dera Men get Imprisonment of 3 years in the First Sacrilege Conviction

Chandigarh ( The Stellar News ): In the first conviction in the series of sacrilege cases that had Punjab on the boil in 2015-16. Moga court on Thursday, July 7, 2022 sentenced the three accused with 3 year imprisonment along with the fine of Rs. 5000 each. The three accused said to be the followers of Sirsa-based Sacha Sauda. This case was related to the tearing of pages from the Bir of Guru Granth Sahib at Malke village of Moga district, Piunjab on November 4, 2015.

Moga Judicial Magistrate 1st Class Rahul Garg handed out three year sentence to Amardeep Singh, Mithu Singh and Prithi Singh but exonerate Davinder Singh and Setpal. This case was registered under Section 295A (intended to outrage religious feelings) and 295 (intended to insult religion of any class), and 120B (criminal conspiracy) at Samsar police station in Moga, initially against unknown people persons, but later the names of the 5 people came to the light.
