Senior SAD leader and former Punjab Speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon passes away

Chandigarh (The Stellar News): Senior Shiromani Akali Dal and former Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon dies at the age of 79 after a chronic illness on Saturday, July 16, 2022. He served as State Minister of Rural Development and Panchayats from 1997 to 2002, Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from the year 2007 to 2012. The last rites of Nirmal Singh Kahlon will be performed on Sunday, July 17, 2022 in Dadujogh village, near Fategarh Churian in Gurdaspur district.
Shiromani Akali Dal Chief Sukhbir Singh Badal expressed his condolences on this unfortunate event. He tweeted, ‘Deeply saddened to learn about the demise of Senior Akali Dal Leader and former Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S. Nirmal Singh Ji Kahlon. Kahlon was source of inspiration for all of us. His wise counsel will always be missed. I stand with Kahlon family in this hour of grief.’ Punjab Pradesh Committe President Amrinder Singh Raja Warring also expressed his deepest distress and tweeted, ‘Saddened to know about the demise of Senior @Akali_Dal_Leader and former speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon Ji. My deepest condolences to the family, may his soul Rest in Peace!’
