Historic Achievement: Mehroon Nissa Selected for Team India in Asian Oceania Championship

Kargil (The Stellar News): Mehroon Nissa, daughter of Senior X-ray Technician Ghulam Hassanian from Shargole, Kargil, has etched her name in history by being selected for Team India in the upcoming Asian Oceania Championship to be held in Kyrgyzstan. This remarkable feat makes her the first women’s ice hockey player from Kargil to join the national team.

Mehroon Nissa began her ice hockey journey with training from International Player Zia Ur Rahman Mir in Kargil. She played matches with the Downhill Team, a local club in Kargil, before receiving professional training under Aashu Sir at Iskate Gurugram. Her skills led her to represent Team Delhi and Team Telangana multiple times in national championships.

Syed Mehraj Ud Din Shah, General Secretary of District Kargil Olympic Association, extended his heartfelt congratulations to Mehroon Nissa, acknowledging the historic nature of her selection. He emphasized that her achievement is a testament to dedication, skill, and passion for the sport.
