Gadheer Pishoo Clinches Victory in Inaugural Goma Premier League

Kargil (The Stellar News): The Goma Kargil Play Ground witnessed an exhilarating finale of the first-ever district-level cricket tournament, the Goma Premier League. The final match, played between Gadheer Pishoo and Kako Shilikchey, culminated in a thrilling victory for Gadheer Pishoo.
The tournament was organised by youths of Goma Kargil led by Nissar Tom and Imtiyaz Khan.

The tournament, in which 42 teams across the district participated, marked a significant milestone in the promotion of sports in the region. The event attracted thousands of spectators, creating an electrifying atmosphere at the newly constructed Goma Kargil Play Ground.

The Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, was the Chief Guest of the closing ceremony. Others present on this occasion include Abass Ali Khan, President Youth NC Kargil, Anayat Ali Shotopa, International Player and General Secretary of Ladakh Taekwondo Association, former Ward Member Mohd Ali Lamboo, and well-known businessmen from Goma Kargil Haji Hussain and Mohd Amin.

During the ceremony, Anayat Ali Shotopa presented a memorandum on behalf of the youths of Goma Kargil, requesting further development of the sports infrastructure in the area. The memorandum outlined key demands, including ground expansion, enhanced fencing, relocation of changing rooms, the installation of a lighting system, and the construction of a multi-purpose indoor stadium.

Dr. Jaffer congratulated both teams for their remarkable performances and commended the organizers for conducting a well-disciplined tournament. He announced a grant of Rupees 2 Lakh for the organizers and assured that LAHDC Kargil is committed to addressing the demands made by the youths of Goma Kargil, emphasizing that the development of sports infrastructure is a top priority.

Abass Ali Khan, speaking at the event, expressed his gratitude towards Councillor Town, Haji Mohd Abass, for his pivotal role in making the Goma Kargil Play Ground a reality for the youth. Although Councillor Abass was unable to attend due to personal reasons, he sent cash prizes for the organizers and both finalist teams, which were handed over by Abass Ali Khan.

The ceremony concluded with Dr. Jaffer distributing trophies and prizes to the winning team, Gadheer Pishoo, the runner-up team, Kako Shilikchey, and outstanding individual players.

The successful organization of the Goma Premier League has set a new benchmark for sports events in the region, inspiring local youth and paving the way for future tournaments at the Goma Kargil Play Ground.
