A Massive fire broke out in the Kurangani hiils in Theni, Tamil Naidu on Sunday evening. Nine of 39 trekkers died in this massive fire in forest. 30 people were rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment.

The trekkers included 27 people from Chennai and 12 from Erode and Tirupur. The rescue operation is on. Rescue team consisted of around 250 members. Two choppers of Indian Air Force also reached on fire site on Monday morning in order to continue rescue operation.
Tamil Naidu Chief Minister E Palanisamy said, “Rescue and relief are on war footing”.
