CM Sonowal attends PNB loan-mela

Guwahati (The Stellar News): Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, while participating in a loan-mela organized by Punjab National   Bank (PNB) at Dharapur area on 7 January 2021, commented that for maintaining one’s self-dignity he/she needs to  become self-reliant. On the occasion, Sonowal also inaugurated PNB’s Kamrup district circle office and a loan point after presenting the sanction letters of loans to different beneficiaries.

Close   on the heels   of   Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for Atmanirbhar   Bharat,  PNB’s initiative of disbursing loans to different beneficiaries will definitely help the people to become self-reliant and self-sufficient, he observed. Sonowal also requested the bank authorities to have constant monitoring on the utilization of the loan amount and  called upon the beneficiaries to spend every penny of the loan productively so that the loan amount can be channelized into a useful resource. He pointed out that in response to PM Modi’s announcement of Rs 20 lakh crore, in Assam one lakh small, medium and marginal entrepreneurs secured bank loan to the tune of Rs 2000 crore.

Immediately after coming to power, the State government in Dispur launched an uncompromising tirade against corruption, asserted Sonowal adding that as a result people of Assam  have been in a position to take a sigh of relief from the burden of nose deep corruption. The competent and educated unemployed youths could secure government jobs under the present dispensation, he claimed. For the self-employment of youths,  Sonowal requested the bank authorities to introduce ease of getting loan in same line of ease of doing business.

In presence of PNB’s top officers including SS Singh along with a selected NABARD officials, the CM also asked them to conduct awareness meetings in all 26 thousand villages,1500 tea gardens for generating financial wisdom.
