COVID-19: RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED BY CM AFTER INCREASE IN COVID CASES

Chandigarh (The Stellar News), Saksham Kalia: On Tuesday, Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh imposed new restrictions in state after increase in covid-19 cases. He called up a high level virtual meeting with health experts and senior officers on 3pm.
In meeting he ordered strict enforcement of wearing masks and maintaining social distancing in state. He also limited indoor gathering to 100 and outdoor gathering to 200 which will be imposed from 1st march. He also gave permission to all deputy commissioners of state to impose night curfew in hotspots if necessary. CM Punjab ordered health authorities to increase Covid-19 testing to 30,000 and announced to increase the testing to 15 people came in contact with a positive person.

Decisions on number of persons allowed to gather in cinema halls will be taken after 1st march. Some more decisions are expected from Punjab government to stop the new covid-19 strain in Punjab.

Punjab Health minister Balbir Singh Sidhu also warned health workers who have not received covid-19 vaccine shot yet, instead of giving various opportunities by government. He said that, “The healthcare workers who do not get vaccinated to boost their immunity for COVID-19 despite being given repeated opportunities and in case they get the infection at a later stage, they will have to bear the cost of their treatment and they will not be allowed to avail quarantine/isolation leave.”

On Monday, 389 new cases recorded in state, taking the infection toll to 1,78,847 a medical data said. Now, the recorded active cases in Punjab is 3,167.
