Amritsar (The Stellar News): On night intervening 30th Nov’ / 01st Dec 2021 BSF, alert BSF troops deployed on duty at border heard humming sound of suspected flying object / Drone coming from Pak side and entering inside Indian territory in the area of responsibility of 183 Bn BSF, Amritsar Sector.
Suspecting modus operandi of ANEs of smuggling through drone, own troops retaliated with fire
in the direction of humming drone to thwart their attempt. Further, troops heard the returning
sound of the suspected drone to Pak territory after 10 seconds.

- Immediately, the depth area was cordoned, Police was informed and all escape routes were chocked. During extensive search of the area, 01 black colour bag with a ring attached with thread sling to hold the bag was found in farming field on own side of fence. Four packets of contraband suspected to be heroin (weight appx. – 3.660 Kg) were recovered from the bag. Anti-National Elements / smugglers are trying hard to smuggle contraband by all possible means and employing new technology of Drones, but their nefarious attempts are being continuously foiled by vigilant troops of Border Security Force.
- The achievement of BSF on 01st Dec 2021 (Raising day of BSF) highlights the continuous efforts of the Force in the performance of its core duties in line with the mandated role & task resulting in thwarting smuggling attempts of ANEs in the harsh weather conditions. During the year 2021, Appx 409 Kg of Heroin have been recovered by BSF on Punjab border.
