Kargil (The Stellar News): Atul Pangotra (Taekwondo Coach) deputed in J&K Sports Council, presently persuing Mped in Govt College of Physical Education, Ganderbal represented India as an International Referee at Goyang World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships,2022 held at Goyang, South Korea. Around 100 countries took part in which only 60 best Referees around the World from 5 continents were being selected. The selection has been made by the World Taekwondo President.
He was the only Referee official from J&K-UT and 2nd International Referee from India in the history of Indian Taekwondo selected for this prestigious World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships. It’s indeed a proud moment for India and whole J&K Sport’s Fraternity.
Atul Pangotra has an amazing playing record in Taekwondo. He has a consecutive Gold Medal score for 10 Senior National Championships. Represented India at 5 World Championships, 4 Asian and 2x Commonwealth Championships as a player and secured Silver and a Bronze medal in Commonwealth Taekwondo Championships. Atul has also secured 2 Gold Medals and a Silver Medal in International World Taekwondo Championships.
If we talk about the professional Coaches around India in terms of Taekwondo Atul is not less than of any International Coach. He has produced many International Medalists and National Medalist and also proved his metal by becoming the first from the India and J&K to ever qualify for Paralympics among top 50 Official’s around the World.
This is the first official offline event conducted by World Taekwondo after this pandemic and surely his representation made J&K UT and Nation Proud.
