INDIA IS ALL SET GET ITS SECOND WOMEN PRESIDENT, AS MURMU LEADS WITH 72% VOTES

New Delhi (The Stellar News) Saksham Kalia: Counting for Indian Presidential elections held on 18th July is underway and Droupadi Murmu is leading in fray to become President of India. BJP’s Presidential Candidate Droupadi Murmu has got 540 votes while the opposition presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha managed to get 208 votes.

Till evening, India will know who will become India’s 15th President and will succeed Incumbent Indian President Ram Nath Kovind. Murmu, who, if elected, will be the first tribal woman to occupy the top constitutional post in the country. Kovind’s tenure is ending on July 24 and the new president will take oath on July 25. Polling for the presidential election was held between 10 am to 5 pm Monday at 31 locations including the Parliament House and 30 centres within state legislative assemblies. There are also reports of cross-voting in favour of Murmu in a number of states.
