PUNJAB GOVT SPENDING NRI SABHA FUNDS ON ‘MILNI’ EVENTS, NRI’s UPSET

Punjab (The Stellar News) Saksham Kalia: The NRIs, who are members of NRI sabha, are upset over the use of their funds for organizing “NRI Punjabian naal milni’ programme have been used from the NRI Sabha account, which is organised by Punjab government for listening the problems of Non-Residents of India (NRIs).

The Punjab Government is conducting a series of five meeting event in multiple districts of Punjab for listening the problems of NRIs and the first meeting was organised in Jalandhar.

The funds have been used from the NRI sabha, which is raised by the membership fee of 23, 000 registered NRIs.

The Divisional Commissioner, Jalandhar, Gurpreet Sapra, confirmed having allocated Rs 10 lakh funds from the sabha accounts for the programme.

“The funds were transferred after I received written orders from the government. All arrangements at the venue, including tents, tea, etc, had to be made from this amount,” she said.
