RAHUL GANDHI DISQUALIFIED AS LOK SABHA MP AFTER CONVICTION IN DEFAMATION CASE

New Delhi (The Stellar News) Saksham Kalia: Senior Congress leader and former Congress President Rahul Gandhi is disqualified as the Member of Parliament of Lok Sabha as he was convicted and sentenced two year jail in a defamation case for his remark on “Modi surname”.

Rahul Gandhi made a short visit in parliament hours before he was disqualified from parliament as Lok Sabha MP. Rahul is elected Lok Sabha MP from the Wayanad Constituency.

If a Member of Parliament is convicted of any offence and is sentenced for at least two years, he attracts disqualification, according to Section 8(3) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
