New Delhi , June 15 , 2016 :Congress President sonia Gandhi has accepted the resignation of Kamal Nath as General Secretary in charge of Punjab Congress according a report carried by NDTV .
Earlier the Congress General Secretary and Newly appointed In charge of Punjab Congress Affairs Kamal Nath had requested party president to relieve him from the post of in charge of Punjab congress . Keeping in view the attacks of SAD and AAP on him for his alleged involvement in 84 anti-Sikh riots , Kamal Nath said that he did not want the diversion from the real issues of Punjab going to polls in 2017 .
Although , he claimsed innocence and said he had no role in the killings of Sikhs still he want to be relieved in the interests of the party in Punjab.
