Fresh Ceasefire violations along International Border by Pakistani Rangers

One BSF Head Constable was killed and an Assistant Sub-Inspector was among the three injured in heavy shelling by Pakistani Rangers along the International Border in Jammu. Pakistani rangers have violated the ceasefire twice on Sunday in RS Pura sector, using mortar shells and small fire arms. Pakistan has stepped up the cross-border firing after the Indian army conducted the surgical strikes on September 29th to destroy the terror launchpads in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK). Pakistani troops continued shelling across 13 BoPs and International Border in RS Pura, Pargwal and Kanachak in Jammu. The shelling was so intense and continuous that it was audible up to twenty kilometres away from the international border. Reports of damaged property and dead cattle are also coming from the area but nothing has been officially confirmed. Due to the scale of the shelling local civilians remained indoors in the safety of their homes. Pakistani Rangers had resorted to small fire around 06:30 PM on Sunday which intensified as the night came on and continued into the early hours today morning. In his statement earlier Add. Director General of BSF Arun Kumar had warned that Pakistan will have to pay a heavy price if it tried to even touch any of it’s personnel.

It should be noted that on last Friday 26 year old Gurnam Singh from Rath Anand in RS Pura tehsil was killed with a bullet to his head in a sniper fire. He was instrumental in foiling an infiltration attempt by a group of terrorists from across the international border into Bobiyan area of Hiranagar sector killing one of the terrorists. The Pakistani Rangers has targeted the border hamlets and border outposts (BoP) with mortar shells and opened fire from automatic weapons along the International border in the sector. Seven Pakistani Rangers and a terrorist were killed and three others seriously injured in a retaliation action by the BSF as the Pakistani troops has targeted six sectors in Jammu, Kathua, Sambha, Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir. A local resident of R S Pura was also injured in the ceasefire violation, reported the news agency ANI.

There have been over forty incidents of ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops since India carried out surgical strikes in PoK after the Uri terror attack in which 19 Indian soldiers were killed.
