CENTRE APPROVES NEW MSP RATES OF KHARIF CROPS, ENSURED CONTINUATION OF MSP

Delhi (The Stellar News) Saksham Kalia: Providing some relief to farmers of the country, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar announced the increase in MSP’s of 14 Kharif crops grown in summer season.

While briefing to media about the decisions made in the cabinet meeting, he ensured that the MSP is going to pursue and will increase continuously with time.  He said that, “No one should have any misconception about MSP. It’s continuing and increasing. It will continue”.
While briefing he announced that the Minimum support price (MSP) of paddy has been increased from Rs 1868 per quintal to Rs 1940 per quintal with the price hike of Rs72.

He said that, “Highest absolute increase in MSP over the previous year has recommended for sesamum (452/ quintal) followed by Tur and urad(Rs 300/ quintal)”.He also reiterated the Centre Government commitment of continuation of MSP’s and said that the current system of procurement will continue.

This decision has made amid the protests by the farmers in various areas of the country demanding the repeal of three farm laws.
