“CRYPTOCURRENCIES SHOULD NOT END UP IN WRONG HANDS”: PM MODI

Delhi (The Stellar News) Saksham Kalia: PM Modi addressing The Sydney Dialogue said that, international order should ensure that cryptocurrencies should end up in the wrong hands. Prime Minister on Saturday chaired a meeting to consider the regulatory prospects for cryptocurrencies with the RBI brass and the Ministries of Home Affairs and Finance, where a strong consensus was reached to stop “attempts to mislead the youth through over-promising & non-transparent advertising”.

“It is important that all democratic nations work on this and ensure that it does not end up in wrong hands, which can spoil our youth,” said Mr. Modi, addressing the event virtually and delivering the inaugural speed.

Noting that unregulated crypto markets cannot be allowed to become avenues for money laundering and terror financing, the meeting concluded that a close watch and pro-active steps are necessary for the sector, senior Government sources said.

“India’s digital revolution is rooted in our democracy, our demography and the scale of our economy. The digital age is changing everything around us. It has redefined politics, economy and society. It is raising new questions on sovereignty, governance, ethics, law, rights and security,” observed Mr. Modi during his speech.
