What will be the effect of UCC?

The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is a proposed set of laws aimed at creating a common set of rules governing personal matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, and adoption for all citizens of India, regardless of their religious beliefs.

This involves the elimination of discriminatory and derogatory laws that doesn’t suits in the present time including the ban on four marriages for Muslim men which is presently allowed in the Muslim religious rights, giving equal share of property to men and won at the time of partition, giving Muslim right to claim maintenance allowance after her separation with husband.

UCC also defines the uniform age of marriage, 18 for a girl and 21 for a boy irrespective of the religion, completely banning child marriage which is still allowed to a religion in 21st centuary.

Marrying another woman if a person will not get a child from the first marriage is allowed in Hindu marriage act but this will also be taken out with UCC.

Do Uniform Civil Code (UCC) target Muslim Community?

Uniform Civil Code is all about eliminating the laws which are against society and curse the equality and justice for people of the country. As Supreme Court still deals with the cases on the basis of religion.
