More than 10,000 teachers belongs to 16 unions protested against the state government under the banner of Sanjha Adhyapak Morcha in Ludhiana on Sunday.

They blocked Jalandhar Bypass road for over an hour. The traffic was completely distrubed from 4pm to 5pm. Teachers from all over to Punjab were came to join the gathering.
One of the major demands, which has given rise to mass agitation, is the pay proposal policy of the government, which brings down the existing salary of contractual employees from Rs 42,000 to the basic pay of Rs 10,300 for the first three years.
FIR has been lodged against the agitators.
