Guwahati (The Stellar News): The elementary schools in Assam are going to resume the classes from the first day of 2021 as the Covid-19 situation has significantly improved in the State. The Centre has already allowed the State authorities to start classes in both the government and private educational institutions subject to the improved Covid-19 situation. After nine months, the high and higher secondary schools (6th to 12th standard) have already resumed classes from this month in the State.
New museum building inaugurated: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal recently inaugurated the newly constructed building of Dibrugarh district museum thereby providing a permanent infrastructure with modern facilities for research, collection of artifacts and also their preservation which was a long felt need. Mentionable is that the district museum was established in 1987 and since then it was functioning from the district library building. After inaugurating the building, Sonowal also visited the archaeology gallery which depicts representative history of stone & terracotta scriptures based on aesthetics and nature of collection found in the remnants of ancient & medieval Hindu temples and archaeological sites of Assam. The gallery comprises a stone inscription which dates back to 675-725 AD, various other ethnographic items glorifying heritage, numismatic, arm and armours, textiles and manuscripts. In presence of State cultural minister Naba Kumar Doley, legislators Prasanta Phukan, Rituparna Baruah and Terosh Gowala, Dibrugarh district magistrate Pallab Gopal Jha etc, Sonowal observed that the museum would immensely benefit the students and researchers.
