Kargil (The Stellar News), Report-Yogeshwar: In Kargil Ladakh, after the continuous snowfall for two days, the weather in Kargil Ladakh has been improved and in order to implement the decision of Opening Srinagar Leh national Highway NH 1D on 28th of February during a recent high level meeting of the UT administration Scheduled to be Falgged Off by LG Ladakh R K Mathur, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve Along with SP Kargil Anayat Ali, Chief Engineer Project VIJAYAK of Border roads Organization, Brigadier Ashish Ghambir, SP Traffic M Rafi Giri, and other officials visited upto Prandrass.
The team trekked and transshipped to Drass after an avalanche of 400 Meters, found at Jasgound Drass and assessed Snow Clearence work at Different Locations on the Highway. At Pandrass, Santosh Sukhadeve while appreciating the Vijayak authorities for their efforts in the snow clearance works, directed them to complete the remaining works with continued enthusiasm, so that the NH-ID is thrown open for vehicular traffic at the earliest possible. The DC was informed that both men and machinery have been mobilized to carry out the snow clearance operations on the road stretch from Pandrass to Zero Point adding that snow avalanches at some locations is hampering the clearance works.
On the way back, the DC also met various public delegations at Dak Bungalow Drass and listened to their grievances, issues and developmental needs. He also took stock of the situation arisen due to fresh snowfall and enquired about the availability of essentials to the people in the area. Among the public delegations which met the DC at Drass included a deputation of the Himalayan Sports and Cultural Development Organization Drass led by Sports Activist and Polo Promoter Mohammad Amin Polo, and requested for grant of permission and financial assistance for conduct of a winter sports and cultural festival in Drass.
The DC assured the delegation for suitable follow up in the matter.
