A youth congress leader was hacked to death at Mattanur in Kannur district. This incident was occurred in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to the information, youth congress leader, Mattannoor Shuhaib (30) was attacked by group of people, when he was having a tea at local roadside shop at Therur along with his co-workers. The mob of offenders attacked him with sharp weapons and also threw locally made bombs on him. Then attackers escaped from the spot in a van.
Two other party workers were also injured in this incident. Shuhaib was rushed to Kozhikode Medical College, where he was declared dead.
Form few days, there was a tension between CPM and Congress party in Locality. Congress alleged that CPM workers are behind the attack, but CPM denied the allegation.
The case has been registered under the relevant sections of IPC including Section 307 (attempt to murder), Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons), Section 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint). The case in under investigation.
