Guwahati(The Stellar News): Veteran Congress leader and three term former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi, who tested positive for Covid-19 few weeks back, is in a very critical condition at Guwahati medical college hospital. According to the attending doctors, the octogenarian politician has not shown improvement in his health condition for three days. Gogoi was admitted in the hospital on 1 November as he had breathing problems.
The outspoken and popular politician was only released on 25 October from the hospital after some improvements. He was first admitted on 26 August after he was reported as infected by novel corona virus. The doctors had consulted with AIIMS physicians over the line of treatments to Gogoi. The State government led by BJP leader Sarbananda Sonowal has arranged special cares for his treatment.
Meanwhile, two individuals of Assam succumbed to Covid-19 aggravated complications increasing the death toll to 971 till Friday night. The State has recorded 2,11,204 corona-positive cases where 2,07,026 persons have recovered after medical interventions. Presently, it has 3,204 active cases, informed State health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Lately, the arriving passengers at Guwahati airport have been facilitated with Covid-19 screening at the airport itself. Earlier the passengers had to go for mandatory Covid-19 tests at Sarusajai Stadium in the city. However, passengers traveling within the northeastern region can avoid the screening, said a health department source.
