Chandigarh ( The Stellar News ): In an interview with The Tribune, Punjab’s DGP Gaurav Yadav says that clear directives has been issued to clear out the drug mafias and gangsters from Punjab. The biggest challenge is to change the perception of the general public about law and order and that it has not been in shambles. The public should know that not all crimes of Punjab are in linked with major gangs and mafia leaders, for instance 90% of money extortion calls were made by local goons in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi. The main objective is to put forth the real image of Punjab’s and the problems regarding social realities and unemployment cannot be ignored. Along with this The Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) was formed with special agenda that is to curb the problem regarding gangs and their links.
Cyber technology is the major key to get to the depth of the connections of not only the local goons but drug mafias also. The Punjab Police teams have visited Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh to study their IT wings and how they work. To mitigate the problem regarding drug carrying drones across the borders, the teams are working in close co-ordination with BSF. The results shown by Punjab Police are commendable.
