Amarnath Yatra 2021 Cancelled: LG Manoj Sinha tweeted


Jammu: Amaranth yatra is cancelled due to rising cases of covid-19. The decision was announced by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha after the discussion with shrine board. The 56 day-yatra to the cave is situated at an altitude of 3,888 m (12,756 ft), about 141 km (88 mi) from Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, reached through Pahlgam town.
It’s important to save people’s lives. So, it is not advisable to hold and conduct this year’s pilgrimage in the larger public interest: Lieutenant governor tweeted. The Amarnath Cave Temple is one of the 51 shakti peethas, temples throughout South Asia that commemorate the location of fallen body parts of the Hindu deity sati.

Manoj Sinha also tweeted, All the traditional religious rituals shall be performed at the Holy Cave Shrine as per past practice. Last week, governor Manoj Sinha attended meeting with Union home minister Amit Shah to look after the security of the state. National security advisor Ajit Doval, union home secretary Ajay Bhalla top security and intelligence of central government and Jammu and administration were present at the meeting.
