MC ALL SET FOR FIRST ‘HOUSE MEETING’ ON MONDAY

HOSHIARPUR (THE STELLAR NEWS): The Municipal Corporation is convening maiden ‘House Meeting’ after civic polls and constitution of the House to discuss key agendas including contractual recruitment of safai sewaks, sewermen, procurement of jetting machines, setting up of verka booths in parks, creation of more green spaces etc.

The meeting of the House will be held under the chairmanship of new Mayor Surinder Kumar on July 19 i.e. Monday at 3 pm in the MC complex. The corporation has also proposed and included in agenda to carve out new parks in areas, where these are needed with the consent and suggestions of its residents. Besides this, the Municipal Corporation is also chalking out a plan to add more CCTV cameras in the existing numbers to check timely lifting of waste and prevention of littering at unauthorised spots.

The Municipal Corporation has provided meeting agenda to all members so that healthy discussions and adequate decisions on these could be taken, said ADC (Urban Development) and Commissioner Municipal Corporation Aashika Jain adding that the House would also deliberate upon road safety features in larger public interest including ‘Cat Eyes’.

Divulging the details, Aashika Jain stated that more than 400 safai sewaks and sewermen were already working in Hoshiarpur and now it is proposed to recruit 98 safai sewaks and 15 sewermen on contractual basis through publication of advertisements. She said that proposals for more green spaces and parks in the city are being considered to improve the environment and suggestions regarding potential spaces for developing parks/green belts could be sent at official email  [email protected].

The procurement of two water tanks for supply of potable water and fogging machines to prevent dengue will also be on agenda list, said the Municipal Commissioner adding further purchase of four jetting machines are also being proposed to resolve the problem of blockage of sewers. Apart from these, development works of roads worth Rs. 10.32 crore  will be discussed in the meeting for house approval. The payment to BSNL for CCTV cameras installed at different locations is also being discussed and installation of more cameras for sanitation purpose and setting up of Command and Control Centre at Municipal Corporation is being mooted. Aashika Jain also pointed out that Rs. 38.42 lakh will be set aside after approval of the House for providing and fixing retro-reflecting sign boards of different types at main roads falling in the jurisdiction of MC.

Allotment of Verka booths in 5 municipal locations namely Model Town Park, Municipal Corporation office, Green View Park, Gautam Nagar Park and Friends Park will be discussed. Once passed in the House, applications will be invited from those in need and preference shall be given to persons belonging to marginalised sections.
